Hello, I’m Ella.

I studied philosophy, which means I’ve spent a great deal of time reading very serious people say very serious things. I loved it. I also came dangerously close to becoming one of them.

For a while, two questions followed me everywhere: is anything real? and what’s the point? They were excellent company at 3am and dreadful company at parties (I have since been forgiven, mostly).

I must admit, I never found the answers. Somewhere along the way I stopped looking quite so hard, and discovered that the whole situation is, frankly, rather funny. Certainty is overrated. Curiosity is far better company, and it never insists on discussing the meaning of life before the starters arrive.

So this is where I write. You’ll find satire, essays and the odd story: some silly, some sincere, most somewhere in between.
